Originally known as The Rapp Residence, The Baird Estate sold this lot to John George Rapp in July of 1902, who then hired the firm Salfield & Kohlberg to construct the residence. The architects David Salfield and Herman Kohlberg comprised a well-known architectural firm, having designed hundreds of buildings in San Francisco from 1887 to 1913.
