Whether or not you’re a fitness enthusiast, exercising is a must, especially during this time of the coronavirus crisis. Exercise not only improves your physical well-being and, consequently, your resistance to diseases; it also helps enhance your mental and emotional health. 

Gyms and fitness centers in San Francisco have not yet been given the green light to reopen, but some are streaming online classes and other fitness programs. If you’re looking for something to keep you preoccupied while self-isolating, work up a sweat by joining an online program from these fitness centers:

Tribe Fitness and Yoga

Tribe offers yoga classes and programs, enhanced with traditional fitness regimens, such as core, strength training, and rowing. Their virtual training program is available for a monthly membership fee of $199, and includes live group, semi-private, or personal training led by an expert coach, nutrition advice, Guided Meditation sessions, and more. Tribe uses the Zoom platform for its online sessions.

Mission Cliffs is San Francisco’s oldest climbing gym. In addition to five story climbing walls, they also offer yoga classes, a climbing program for kids, and a state-of-the art gym. While their facilities are closed, active members can access Zoom clinics for different programs, including vinyasa yoga, functional fit, flexibility and mobility, and others.

Housed in a historic Victorian home, Yoga Garden was founded in 1998 and offers training in various yoga styles, including Iyengar, Ashtanga, and vinyasa. They have multiple live classes daily, including teacher training and other specialized classes. You may book a lesson through their website for $15 per class, or enroll for livestream introductory membership for $35 or auto-renewing livestream monthly membership for $65

With several locations across the Bay Area and the entire United States, The Bar Method offers training in a unique barre workout created under the guidance of physical therapists. Instructors of the method have to undergo special trainings that include anatomy lessons and hands-on adjustments. You can sign on to their Bar Online program for $19 a month, and get unlimited access to a library of online classes featuring various Bar Method instructors.

The stylish Maiden Lane Studios offers intimate-sized classes in Pilates, barre, and yoga, as well as Fascial Stretch Therapy. In addition to their physical studio, they also have a digital studio where members can get on-demand access to 15 new classes per month, new weekly meditations, and other wellness content, as well as a permanent digital library. Membership fee for the online studio is $80 a month.

The Boombox

The Boombox holds intimate classes of six, and trains using various pieces of equipment, such as kettlebells, resistance bands, slide discs, and jump ropes. Regimens include Cardio+Core, HIIT+Band, Mobility, and others. They also hold outdoor bootcamps, which continue to be offered even as the studio is temporarily closed. You can also join their Zoom virtual classes by registering through the Boombox Studio app, with fees ranging from $20 to $149.

MX3 Fitness offers personalized training programs developed around your personal data, including weight loss, endurance training, and strength training. A trainer is assigned to each client, and is responsible for providing the tools their client needs, whether in the gym or online. Along with online yoga, fitness trainings, and bootcamps, MX3 Fitness has also introduced Sidewalk Supervised Workouts, which you can do in a personal outdoor fitness station equipped by the studio. A personal trainer monitors your activity to determine the kind of equipment you need, and to ensure observance of strict COVID-19 protocols. Fees range from $15 to $216.

Anchor Meditation

If your wellness needs include de-stressing and relaxation, Anchor Meditation offers the right regimen. This wellness studio offers daily meditation lessons led by highly trained instructors. With the temporary suspension of their in-studio classes, they have opened online lessons via their 14 Day Meditation Exploration program. You may join live virtual classes or access their library for unlimited on-demand classes. The fees are $12 for a single class and $25 to $40 for  monthly membership.
